It is with broken hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved sister, Alice "Colleen" Doolin, who passed away peacefully at her home in Edmond, Oklahoma, on September 25, 2026, at the age of 73.
Colleen was born June 14, 1953, in Alva, Oklahoma, to John and Katie Doolin. She was one of those people who was simply unforgettable. She was smart, kind, generous, creative, and had a style all her own.
Colleen always looked beautiful and put together. She was fashionable without trying too hard, and she took pride in how she presented herself. She had an eye for beauty, and that appreciation followed her throughout her life.
As a young woman, Colleen was a dancer with the Lawton Civic Ballet. Dance became one of her great loves, along with the fine arts and her dear Jayne Van Wey. Her love of creativity never left her. Later in life, she became a self-taught painter and discovered a remarkable talent for putting what she saw and felt onto canvas. Watching her develop as an artist was something her sisters were very proud of.
Colleen also loved to cook. She was our own self-described novice gourmet, and she took great pleasure in preparing good food. There was something special about the care she put into the things she loved, whether it was a painting, a beautifully prepared meal, or simply making herself look her best.
But more than anything she accomplished or created, Colleen was our sister. She was part of our childhood, our family stories, our laughter, our disagreements, our memories, and all the little pieces of life that sisters share. Losing her leaves an emptiness that words cannot really describe.
Colleen was preceded in death by her children, William Brooks and Ann Isaacs; her brothers, Tom and Bill Doolin; her parents, John and Katie Doolin; and her stepmother, Marilyn.
She leaves behind her sisters, MaryLou, Kit, Carole, and Martha, and her cousins, Kathy, Kris, Lou, and John, along with all those who loved her and whose lives she touched.
We will miss her beautiful spirit, her sense of style, her creativity, her cooking, her intelligence, and her generous heart. We will miss having our sister here to call, to laugh with, to worry about, and to share the ordinary moments of life.
Most of all, we will miss Colleen simply being Colleen.
We love you, sister. You will always be a part of us, and you will never be forgotten.
