Carol Ruby Sandburg passed away at home in Oklahoma City on July 3,2023 at the age of 91.
She was born in Wisconsin on June 25, 1932 to Pearl and Walter Coburn. She attended and graduated schools in Arkansaw, Wisconsin.
She was a beloved, wife, mother and “Granny” to many. Carol loved her family dearly and spent a large portion of her life caring for her seven children. When her children were young, she was active in the Parent Teacher Association and eventually worked at the school. During her life, she loved bowling, reading, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, tatting, sewing, quilting, gardening, collecting bells, collecting angels, playing games with family on her iPad and enjoying wine.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Bill Coburn, Beverly Hoffman and Donna Silberhorn; sons, Gary and Larry Howell; and husband, Rod Sandburg.
She is survived by her sister, Clarabel Hei; children and their spouses, Kathleen Howell, Vicki and Rob Johnson, Risa and Terry Hearell, Lisa and Tim Hein, and Rodney and Tanya Sandburg; grandchildren, Tamara Huckaby; Thomas and Taylor Hodgkins; Shasta Howell; Ryan Daniels; Hannah Tzeo (and husband, Derek); Bailey, Logan, Griffin, and Parker Hein; and Reagan and Ethan Sandburg; and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her extended family members, Larry Sandburg, Steve Sandburg, Cheryl Tucker, Marie Lovett, Sandi Smith and their spouses, children and grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, July, 14, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Marks Bethany, 8140 NW 36th St., Bethany, OK.
A graveside services will be held at a later date in the Summer of 2024 in Arkansaw, Wisconsin.
