Services for Cora McCoy (Coventon), 90, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday in Rowsey Chapel at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Muskogee. Cora was a beloved 4-6th grade teacher at Grant Foreman and Creek Elementary Schools for more than 30 years. She loved travel, teaching the Bible, reading, and playing bridge. She was born in Clarinda, Iowa, grew up in the Midwest and Tennessee, and received degrees from Iowa State University and Northeastern Oklahoma State University. She was a home demonstration economist with Oklahoma Natural Gas. She came to Muskogee in 1961 and has been living at a memory care facility for the past three years. She is survived by two children, Patrick McCoy and wife Rebecca of McKinney, TX., and Debbie Williams of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Rachel Williams Chavez and husband Ernesto, OKC, Elizabeth Williams, OKC, Micah McCoy and wife Alice of Albuquerque, and David McCoy and wife Molly of Shreveport; and two great grandsons, Mando Chavez and James Bonham McCoy. Parents Jacob Butler Sullivan and Minnie Kendlen Sullivan; sister, June Vail; and husbands, Ernest McCoy and John Coventon preceded her in death.
