A Dad, A Papa, A Hero to those that knew him best.
Coy Lee Roberts was born on November 9, 1936 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Louis Franklin Roberts and Johnnie J Barker Roberts. He passed from this life on December 7, 2019 at the age of 83 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Coy worked as a truck driver for Fleming Foods until a back injury forced him to an early retirement. He was an avid fisherman, some would say one of the best in the state. He loved country music and in his later years, spent many nights singing Karaoke at local nursing homes and other venues around Shawnee.
Coy was always friendly and nice to everyone he met and no matter where he went, people noticed him. He loved to talk and share stories of his past. He would talk about the days of fishing and all the huge fish he caught and trust us, these weren’t just “fish stories”.
He is survived by his wife, of the home, Sammy Lou Combs Roberts, two sons, Scott Roberts and special friend, Kim Pettenridge of Oklahoma City, Gary Roberts and wife Lisa of Oklahoma City, one daughter, Carla and husband Bobby Cotter of Earlsboro, Oklahoma along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters.
