Dolores Jean (Cardenas) Bales of Mustang, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 19th, 2022, at the age of 81.
She was born on June 22, 1941, in Oklahoma City. She wed her childhood sweetheart, Charles Bales, on April 10, 1961, and they were married until his death on April 14, 2009 (48 years.)
Dolores began working as a teen-ager at an office building in downtown OKC (the Cravens Building, later renamed the Robinson Renaissance) as an elevator operator. It was work she enjoyed, as it enabled to her to do what she loved best, talking to people. She worked there for decades, getting to know every tenant in the building, and more. She and Charles purchased a home and moved to Mustang in 1975, where she lived until her death. She was active in the Chisholm Heights Baptist Church, as well as the Mustang Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mollie Cardenas, as well as five older brothers: Arthur, James, Raymond, Frank, and John.
Dolores is survived by her only child, Mark Bales and wife, Michelle of Mustang, her grandson Joshua Bales also of Mustang, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
She will be inurned beside her husband at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City in a private ceremony. A memorial service may be planned for the future.
