Edmond

Edmond Luke Ward Jr., 71, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed from this life on April 6, 2026.

Edmond was born on January 9, 1955, in Minot, North Dakota, to Edmond "Ed" Ward Sr. and Claudia (Stewart) Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Susan Ward; stepmother Ruth Harris; mother-in-law Barbara "Mimi" Douglas; and his beloved dog Sir Jeffrey Jo Nubbington.

He is survived by his wife, best friend, & partner in this life Shawna (Douglas) Ward; sons Elijah Ward & Dylan Ward; daughter Kelsie Abney & her husband Douglas Abney; sister Mona Ward; father-in-law Don “Coach” Douglas; sisters-in-laws Shelly Douglas & Amy Douglas; his beloved dog Professor Jack Waffles; his cat Addee Kabu; and several nieces & nephews.

Edmond devoted his life to helping others. Through his work with Catalyst Behavioral Services at Community House, he made a lasting impact on countless individuals struggling with substance use and recovery. He carried a deep compassion for people in their hardest moments and never stopped believing in second chances.

Edmond also had an unwavering faith in Christ, which guided his life and gave him strength through every season. He knew where he was going when he left this life, and that peace was a reflection of the faith he carried so deeply.

He was a passionate lover of music in all its forms and a loyal fan of the Los Angeles Rams. Above all, Edmond was a fierce advocate for the underdog—someone who stood up for others, offered unwavering support, and gave of himself freely.

Edmond’s presence brought laughter, strength, and comfort to those around him. He will be remembered for his big heart, his resilience, and the way he showed up for others without hesitation.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff with Integris I-35 Edmond ICU, with special thanks to Dr. Aamir Mohammad, Dr. Taha Khan, Shalene J., Jessica S., and Kelley (Respiratory). Also, a special thanks to Dr. Cameron Steele, Dr. Bryant Pierce, and Dr. Bryan Struck (previously with OU Health), as well as all first responders with the Edmond Fire Department, emergency dispatch, and the Edmond Police Department.

Edmond’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the people he helped, in the music he loved so deeply, and the laughter he brought to those around him.

We will miss you, Mo.
