GEARLUNE MOON

December 19, 1945 — November 29, 2020

GUTHRIE

Gearlune Moon died at home November 29, 2020 of natural causes. Born to SJ and Helen Moon of Alexander City, Alabama, Gearlune is survived by her brothers, Sam and John Moon, both of Georgia. Geri has four children, Shelby, Tonilyn, Robin, and Brandon as well as five grandchildren, Steven, Brian, Kevin, Randal, and Daphne. But Geri’s special delight was spending time with her great-grandchildren, of which there are seven. Gearlune, who liked to be called Geri, spent most of her career as a clerk in retail. Geri was a colorful character with a strong sense of adventure. She enjoyed rock and roll and was thrilled to add her name to the millions of others on the wall at Graceland. Over the years, Geri collected lighthouses, small dolls, and decorative rocks from her own travels and from the travels of her many friends. In recent months, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Shelby and Steve Lewis. In their home, Geri enjoyed sipping tea as she watched the many birds flying among the trees in their yard or watching football and soccer games on television. Geri’s family respects her wish to be cremated, with no formal memorial of any kind. It was Geri’s belief that her passing was not an end to life itself: it was a fresh beginning, one filled with the joy and light of dear friends and family. Geri’s ashes will be scattered in a natural, lovely setting filled with the everyday song of birds, nearby water, and trees that are forever green.
