Geneva "Darlene" (Vaughn) Lamascus

Our mother, Geneva “Darlene” Vaughn Lamascus went to the with the Lord on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at her home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was born September 20, 1941 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Orbie Vaughn and Edna Lou (Baker).

Darlene graduated from Shawnee High School in the Class of 1959. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Oklahoma Baptist Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma in1962. Darlene obtained a master’s degree in Public Health in 1979 from the University of Oklahoma. She was a Clinic Supervisor of the Tulsa City & County Department of Health, then became Health Services Coordinator for Oklahoma Department of Corrections and retired as a Registered Nurse from Unity Health Center of Shawnee, where she was also known as “Sarge”.

Survivors include her children, Sherri Renee Lamascus and James Arthur Lamascus and Shelby; brother, James Edward Vaughn and Glenda; sister-in-law, Karen Vaughn; nieces, Kathy Vaughn Murphy and Kimberly Vaughn-Crain; nephews, Stuart Vaugh, Kevin Vaugh and Brian Vaughn and a host of other family, friends and former co-workers.

Darlene was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Lou (Baker) Vaughn-Brazael; brother, Kenneth Leon Vaughn and husband, Warren Lee Lamascus.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
