Midwest City

We celebrate the life of Henry Edward Koenig, Jr. Born October 27, 1960, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he passed peacefully December 9, 2022, ending his battle with cancer.

Henry attended Elementary and Junior High in Oklahoma City before the family moved just north of Edmond where he graduated from Deer Creek High School. He graduated from Oklahoma State Technical School in Okmulgee with an associates degree in diesel mechanics before working for Caterpillar and Ditch Witch. He also received a Bachelor’s in Business from the University of Central Oklahoma. In 1986 and on the same day as his father, Henry Sr., retired from Civil Service at Tinker Air Force Base, Henry Jr. began working in security at the base. He worked there for 30 years before retiring himself. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Friends and family will remember the big heart hidden behind a purposely gruff exterior.

He is survived by his children and grandchildren whom he loved and cherished, daughters Sherry Treadway and her kids, Lily & Luke, Sarah Skeen & her husband Dylan, sister Karlyn Bowles & her daughter Kayleigh, brother Chris & his wife Jill, brother Kurt & his son Benton, stepfather Fred Hicks, stepsister Beverly Thomas with her husband Brent, daughter Katie Austin with her husband Kyle and their son Matthew with his wife Brittany, and their children.

Henry is preceded in death by his parents Henry Koenig, Sr. and Patricia Koenig Hicks as well as his brother-in-law John Bowles.

The family is planning a celebration of life in January. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
