Janis Ann (Clarke) Lovelace

January 25, 1934 — September 4, 2016

Janis Ann Lovelace was born January 25, 1934 in Toulminville, Mobile County, Alabama to Clarence Gray and Teresa Eloise (Pitman) Clarke.  She passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 82.

Janis was raised in Mobile, Alabama. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. She was in public education and taught school for over 48 years.

Janis married Martin R. Lovelace on January 7, 1956 in Mobile. He later preceded her in death in 2001.

Janis was very active in her churches. She played piano many years in church and was also active in prayer group meetings. Janis loved the Lord and held a special relationship with Him. She loved her family dearly. She often would pick up her grandchildren from school and other activities and developed a special bond with all of them.

Janis is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tobin and Tamerah Lovelace of Yukon and Timothy and Jennifer Lovelace of Cashion; grandchildren, Tia Cantrell and husband Jon, Whitnei Williams and husband Michael and Hayse Lovelace; great grandchild, Caden Cantrell and a host of other family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and one brother.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM at OK Cremation and Funeral Home Chapel in Oklahoma City with Pastors Robert Gonzales and Thomas Brown officiating.
