John Burton Cowden

John Burton Cowden passed away on Tuesday, March 14th, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 82.

John was born on October 21, 1940, in Zanesville, Ohio to Thomas and Ruth (Holshouser) Cowden.

He attended Oklahoma State University before serving in the United States Marine Corp. After discharged from the Marines, John was involved in the petroleum industry until retirement. He was well respected and loved by his friends and family. He was also proud to be a 32nd Degree Mason, just like his father.

John loved to cook and always enjoyed a good steak! He enjoyed bowling, tennis, and loved watching sports, especially OU. One of the many things he enjoyed most, was spending time with his family. He adored his grandchildren and was the best PeePaw.

John is preceded in death by his son, Johnny, brother David, and parents.

John was survived by his daughters, Kim Cowden of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Suzanne (Evan) Earnest of Oklahoma City, Amy (Chad) Tiner of New Plymouth, Idaho; grandchildren, Chad, Kyle, Payton, Luke, Kody, and Garrett; great grandchildren, Ashton and Mackinzie; brother, Tom Cowden of Edmond; nephew, Tim (Monique) Cowden and their children Sarah, Amy, Jack, and Joe, his niece, Deborah (Steve) Hanska , their two children Jesse and Garrett and niece Stacy (Chris) Maker.

He was loved greatly and will be missed by all that knew him.
