John Alvin Muncrief

John Alvin Muncrief, lovingly known as “Pa”, passed away at age 67, on August 27, 2026, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital South in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma due to complications with open heart surgery. He put up a courageous fight until the very end.

John was born on August 2, 1959 to R.L. and Joann Muncrief in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Quanah High School in 1977. John was married to his loving wife, Tammy Muncrief, for 34 years. Together they raised their 4 children, and helped raise some of their grandchildren. He was a hard worker who spent a majority of his life working various positions in the oil field and later worked as a handyman for Watts Properties in Vernon, Texas.

John was a humorous man whose laugh could fill empty rooms. He was an incredibly likable man who never met a stranger. He was never afraid to speak his mind and always stood firmly on what he believed in. His hobbies included fishing, visiting casinos, and spending time with family. He loved watching football, but nothing beat the joy of watching his grandson, Ty, play ball. He loved his kids, but his grandchildren were his real pride and joy. He was a proud Pa, who bragged on them every chance he got.

Above all, John was a family man, and the greatest part of his life was them. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Muncrief; his children Hannah Muncrief, Melissa Mahan, Jennifer Mahan, Mikey and spouse Amber Mahan; his grandchildren Dru Limon, Emily and spouse Jalen Austin, Jakoby Rodriguez, Jazae Scott, Ty Scott, Leean Villegas, Madi Mahan, Holden Mahan, and Allison Dillard; Great grandchildren Azi Catano, Jaliyah and Jayce Austin. He is also survived by his siblings Brad and spouse Trina Boyd, Jana Sanders, Judy Muncrief, Jim and spouse Jenny Muncrief. He is preceded in death by his parents, R.L. and Joann Muncrief. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void in their lives, the love, lessons, laughter, and memories he gave them will continue to be carried through generations. He spent his life showing up for the people he loved, and his family will forever be a reflection of the life and legacy he leaves behind.

A memorial service celebrating his life is currently being arranged, and further details will be shared with family and friends once decided upon.
