John Sullens, known to those closest to him as "Pa Pa," passed away on May 26, 2026.
John never met a stranger. He could walk into any room and leave with a new friend, keeping a conversation going with anyone who crossed his path. He had a wicked sense of humor and a sharp wit, and a gift for finding a way to make us laugh in any situation, which is likely how he managed to stay married to his beloved wife for over 50 years. He was opinionated and never apologized for it, but those he loved knew that his acceptance of them was total and unconditional. He showed up. He answered the phone. He gave the ride. He said what he thought, kept it real, and never wasted time on pretense. His wife lovingly called him her Webster dictionary, a nod to his passion for and deep understanding of the English language. To his family and friends, he was reliable in the truest sense, not just present, but genuinely there. He loved deeply, valued tradition, and believed in the kind of honest conversation that left you thinking long after it was over, maybe even questioning where you stood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reginald "Jack" Sullens and Nancy Sullens.
John is survived by his loving wife, Diane Sullens, his sons Johnny and Kenny Sullens and their wives, and five beautiful grandchildren who were the jewels in his crown. He will be remembered by those who loved him as one of a kind, because he truly was.
