Kenneth Lee Willitts

February 27, 1940 — February 5, 2022

Edmond

Kenneth Willitts (Ken) slipped into Heaven on February 5th, 2022; three weeks shy of his 82nd birthday.  Ken was born on February 27, 1940 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Rodney and Evelyn (Miller) Willitts.  His parents divorced a few years later and his mother remarried.  A half-brother and half-sister were born from that union.

After graduating high school in 1958, Ken enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served honorably from 1958 until 1962.  He was stationed various places including Korea, England, and Italy. He then enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably from 1962 until 1965.  After leaving the military, he settled in California for a while, working for United California Bank.  In 1968 he returned to Battle Creek where he worked as a credit manager for Goodyear.

He soon met his wife-to-be, Cindy, and proposed to her within a month of meeting her.  They married four months later in August 1968.  Ken's daughter, Tammy, was born in 1971 and was the center of his life.

Ken was in sales his entire career and sold various things including real estate and cars.  In 1977, the family moved to San Antonio, Texas where they stayed until 2000.  They then moved to Oklahoma City.  Ken never met a stranger and loved talking with people - friends and strangers alike.  Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with cancer in July 2021 and it was very aggressive.  Ken chose not to take treatment but to enjoy the short time he had left.  He was a devout Christian who served the Lord with gladness.  He was a Gideon for many years.  He also served in the jail ministry in both San Antonio and Oklahoma City.  He knew he was going to Heaven, so he wasn't afraid to die.  Ken was larger than life and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Willitts, and daughter, Tammy Rima as well as his half-brother and sister and a step-sister.
