LaVenia Eleanor Lindsey

Oct 25, 1939 — Jul 11, 2026

LaVenia Eleanor (Comerford) Lindsey was born October 25, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts. As a teenager, her family moved to San Diego, CA. A proud city girl, she loved and cherished many memories of both Boston and San Diego. Because she was a city girl, LaVenia never learned to drive and was quick to point out how many lives she saved by never getting behind the wheel.

LaVenia was married to her husband Donald for over 60 years and is the mother of five children: Kathy and husband Allan of Chickasha; Bill and wife Sherry of OKC; Donna of Columbia City, IN; Kelly and husband Steven of Norman; and Merrie and husband James of Norman. She was also a grandmother to 13 grandchildren and great-grandchildren without number.

LaVenia loved beauty and beautiful scents; she was well-known for her elegant perfumes and bright pink lipstick. Halloween was her favorite holiday; for years she delighted trick-or-treaters by handing out bags full of miniature candy bars. She also loved sweets and always carried peppermint candies with her. LaVenia could make a mean batch of chicken and dumplings, a perfect fried egg sandwich, and a delicious blueberry pie. Her motto “cook everything on low heat” meant that guests were famished but the wait was worth it.

LaVenia is survived by her husband Don and their five children. She was preceded in death by her grandson Nicholas and granddaughter Lori.

In memory of our mother, light your favorite scented candle and blast some disco music while eating cake with buttercream frosting. She will be dancing along with the angels.
