Margaret Sue Cooper

Margaret Sue Cooper, age 88, longtime resident of Seminole Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, in Eufaula, Oklahoma, with family at her bedside.

She was born on June 28, 1938 in Coalgate, Oklahoma to parents Carl Johnston and Ollie Mae (Weaver) Johnston. She married the love of her life, Don Cooper, December 7, 1979 in Verdon, Oklahoma. She loved her family fiercely and she provided a loving home to whomever entered her front door. She was a homemaker and supported Don in all his many adventures. Her hobbies included ceramics, sewing and spending time loving on her grandbabies.

Margaret is survived by her brother, Freddie Dean Johnston of Seminole, OK; her sister, Carolyn Hall of Choctaw, OK; son, Terry Douthit, of Tuttle, OK; granddaughter, Traci Payne and wife, Lori of Eufaula, OK; great granddaughter, Shayla Allen and husband Jacob of Fort Gibson, OK; great grandson, Austyn Payne and wife, London of Eufaula, OK; niece Wyndi Williams and husband Trey of Norman, OK; nephews Freeman Rumley and wife Megan of Wagoner, OK; Dustin Rumley and wife Kim, of Cement, OK. She was called “Ma” by many loved ones. She was also known as “Sister” by many who knew and loved her. She leaves behind numerous great-great nieces and nephews and their children whose lives she touched.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents, Carl and Ollie Mae; her sisters, Bettie James and Anita Rumley; her brother, Carl Johnston, Jr. and nephews Dewayne Parham and Joe Parham.

Graveside services for Margaret will be on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Little Cemetery in Seminole, OK.
