Mary Ellen (Hamman) Fischer

Mary Ellen Fischer, 87, passed away on July 7, 2023, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born on February 10, 1936, in Ajo, AZ, to Cleo Taylor Sotelo and Victor Hamman (Carlos Sotelo). She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an amazing, funny, and witty person who loved taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. She has been with her husband Gene Fischer for over 65 years.

Mary Ellen loved traveling and lived in North Africa, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Azores, Arizona. New Mexico, Georgia, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Oklahoma She retired with her husband and family in Oklahoma and spent summers in Wisconsin. She also loved animals and her dog Nellie. Mary Ellen was a talented makeup artist for Revlon, beautician, vivid landscape and portrait artist, and a loving and dedicated homemaker.

She was a United States Air Force spouse for 20 years. Mary Ellen attended Ajo Primary School and Ajo High School. She worshipped at a Catholic church. Mary Ellen loved art, drawing, painting, singing, and dancing.

She is survived by her husband Gene Fischer, daughter Theresa, son David (Rose Ellen), grandchildren Becky, Mara (Hector), Dione, Tami (Nick), Cari (Shane), and Michelle, great-grandchildren Lani, Alex, Christina, Alyssa, Valerie, Juliana, Jace, Danny, Levi, and Livianna, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Carmen, Carlos, Maria, and Francis and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother Cleo Taylor Sotelo, father Victor Hamman (Carlos Sotelo), and siblings Annabelle, Leo, Alice, and Arthur.

Mary Ellen will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
