Matthew Thomas Jones

Matthew Thomas Jones was born June 26, 1937 in Coyle, Oklahoma to Lee Jones, Sr. and Pearl (Green) Jones. He was the 7th child of fourteen. Matthew attended school in Langston and at an early age accepted Christ as his personal savior.

He met and was united in marriage to Jo Ellen Mann for 41 years and to this union one child was born. Matthew and Jo Ellen enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. She preceded him in death on August 19, 2008.

Matthew was employed by V-Pad for 15 years and later retired from Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman as a Mental Health Aide with over 23 years of service.

Matthew departed this life on February 21, 2020 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 82.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory one son of the home, Brian Lee Jones; daughter-in-law, Darlene; two granddaughters, Bri’Anna and Nha’Jae; grandson, Nha’Jon; great-grandson, Uzziah all of Seattle, WA; two sisters, Carolyn Lamey (Kenneth) of Oklahoma City and Senoria Major of Midwest City; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Matthew was also preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 1:00 PM at OK Cremation Funeral Home Chapel, 2415 N. Walnut Ave, Oklahoma City.
