Nancy T. Martin-Williams

August 14, 1928 — April 10, 2020

Oklahoma CIty

Nancy T. Martin-Williams was born August 14, 1928 to Reverend J.W. and Ethel Tomlin in Boley, Oklahoma. She was the second youngest of twelve. Nancy accepted Christ at an early age, under the ministry of her father.

Nancy attended Boley Public Schools. At age 17, she married Herman Epps and into that union was her first born child, William J.J. Epps, which they moved to California. After moving back to Oklahoma in 1947, she found her true love, Elijah Buddy (“E.B.”) Martin Jr. They married September 12, 1954. Within this beautiful union, they have seven children. As a young wife and mother, Nancy and her family became members at St. John Missionary Baptist Church. In 1964, she found a new church home at Sunnylane Baptist Church until 2000.

After God called home the love of her life (E.B.) in 1992 she married Reverend Horace Williams in 1993. Within this union, the Lord blessed them with a church called Open Door Faith Temple, which was under the ministry of her husband.

Nancy never met a stranger. She took in many neighborhood children as her own, in which everyone called her “Mama”. She fed the hungry, took care of the sick, and clothed the needy. She was a God-fearing woman who was full of love and compassion. Her home was a safe haven for all, and her love extended beyond the moon and stars. She was a family woman, who would give her last to her children and grandchildren. She helped so many in her family, into which they are forever indebted to her.

She was preceded in death by her husband (E.B.) of 38 years, son (Victor), parents, adopted mother (Elizabeth Foster) three grandchildren, and all her siblings.

She leaves to cherish her memories: husband Horace of Midwest City, OK; one daughter: Theresa Laye of Oklahoma City, OK; six sons: William (Cleota) Epps of Celina. TX, Edward D. Martin of Oklahoma City, OK , Russell (Cathy) L. Martin of Oklahoma City, OK, Ronald L. Martin of Oklahoma City, OK, , Elijah “Buddy Boy” Martin III of Oklahoma City, OK, and Rev. Kevin A. Martin I; special daughters, Shirley Martin and Carolyn Martin all of Oklahoma City, OK; thirty grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
