Patsy Ruth Zumbro

Patsy Ruth “Pat” Zumbro, lovingly known as “Nanny,” went home to be with Jesus and reunite with her loved ones in Heaven on the morning of July 22, 2026, at the age of 93.

Above all else, Nanny loved her family. Sixteen years ago, she was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, yet even through the challenges of the disease, she was often able to recognize her family, share cherished memories, and brighten our days with her quick wit and unforgettable stories. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making everyone laugh with her funny sayings. If you asked, “What are you doing?” her familiar response was often, “Just watching time fly by.” And if the conversation turned to travel, she’d tell you she wanted to go to Hawaii so she could meet Don Ho. Those simple, endearing expressions are memories her family will treasure forever.

When she was physically able, Nanny found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved spending time with her family, tending to her flowerbeds and garden, reading her Bible, babysitting, preparing home-cooked meals for those she loved, watching television, keeping an eye on the neighborhood, camping, listening to country music, and singing. Her home was always a place of love, comfort, and care.

She is survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren: Corey, Dalton, and Davin Zumbro; Angela Patterson; Michele and Tony Jobe, Ashley and Clay Rush, along with Tinley, Cade, and Cale; Tyler, Presley, Madi, and Keaton; and Sarah and Jose Garcia, along with Kayliana, Alia, Alora, Joanna, Mia, and Wrenley. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Mona Zumbro.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Troy Zumbro; her sons, Vernon Zumbro and Alan Zumbro; her parents; her nine siblings; and many of her cherished pets, which brought her so much companionship and joy throughout her life.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses and staff at River Oaks Nursing Home and Enhabit Hospice for the loving care, kindness, and dignity they showed Nanny during her final days.

Nanny’s unwavering love for her family, her faith in God, her laughter, and the countless memories she created will remain in our hearts forever. Though she will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing she is whole again, reunited with those she loved, and rejoicing in the presence of her Savior.

For so many years, Nanny told us she was “just watching time fly by.” Now, time has given way to eternity, where she is forever at peace in the arms of Jesus.
