A Time to be Born:
On September 17, 1955, a wrinkly baby boy named Ronald Gene Hooks was born to Rodney W. and Winnie F. Hooks. He attended Culbertson Elementary, Harmony Elementary, and graduated from old Classen High School in 1974. Ron attended Langston University(1974-1978) where he majored in Broadcast Journalism. While on the yard, Ron joined Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and graduated with a bachelor’s degree. Ron joined the military (Army) in 1980 and was later departed with a honorable discharge.
Ron started his professional career landing a job with the Daily Oklahoman and KFJL Radio, where he hosted his own show, “The Iceman Show”. He worked for Presbyterian Hospital as night security and later for Scotts Cleaners as a manager. Thereafter, he retired and started his own business, “Ron’s Cleaners” in northeast OKC. After three years of entrepreneurial excellence, Ron retired, fell in love, married, and moved to Kinta, Oklahoma with his wife Rachael Hooks. Ron and Rachael were faithful members of Life Restoration Worship Center, under Pastor Eric Pope. Ron returnedto Oklahoma City in July 2020 to be cared for by family.
Ron accepted his calling to ministry, under the leadership of Elder Howard Huggins, of Madison Street C.O.G.I.C. He was ordained Elder by the Oklahoma Southeast Jurisdiction, under Bishop Malcolm Colby, Ph.D. Ron served as Assistant Pastor to Elder Harvey Stocker at Madison Street and fulfilled many roles from Sunday school superintendent to choir member.
A Time to Die:
Ronald Gene Hooks departed this life on Saturday, December 26,2020 in his mother’s home where he grew up. He was preceded in death by his father, Rodney W. Hooks, and his younger brother Lester Earl Hooks.

Ronald Gene Hooks leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Rachael Hooks, 4 children- Shareece Kirk (Anthony) of OKC, Nicole Hooks of MWC, Antonio Hooks of OKC, and Kadarrius Bateman of OKC; 7 grandchildren- Siani, Tyonna, Raven, Azariah, Darion, Jalen, and Armaun; 3 stepchildren- Nakita Powell of OKC, Terrynce & Daijah Carter of Mississippi; 4 siblings- Carey Hooks (Veletta) of OKC, Renita Tipton (Omelio) of MWC, LaDonna Jackson (Ben) of OKC,and Terry Hooks of MWC; 2 aunts- Rose Hudson and Lena Jones; 1uncle- Dr. Elbert Jones, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins,and friends.
