Sammy "Sam" Darell Carico, Jr.

November 23, 1970 — July 5, 2023

Moore

Sammy “Sam” Darell Carico, Jr. departed for heaven on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, after fighting a long and courageous battle against cancer. He enjoyed a wonderful life over the past 17 years loving his children, Abby & Wyatt Carico. Sam is preceded in death by his parents Deborah Jean (Livingston) Carico & Sammy Carico, Sr., brother William "Billy" Carico, his surrogate mother Sharon Renee Vanover, grandmother Nellie Simpson Carico, and Aunt Rochelle Carico Lingo.

Sam is survived by his daughter Abby Jean Carico, son Wyatt Cayden Carico, Nephews Landon Carico & Colton Carico, niece Daisy Carico & Kelly Long, cousin Debra Servati and her sons Randy Montgomery with wife Annie, Michael Montgomery with wife Jay, grandnieces & grandnephews Alexis Montgomery, Nathan Montgomery, Aycen Montgomery, and Adrik Rejon, cousin Ronald Zawisza with wife Sheila and their daughter Miranda Zawisza, cousin Timothy Vanover (who was a father figure and helped raise Sam) with wife Jennifer and their sons Josh Vanover, Jordan Vanover and Johnathon Vanover.

Sam graduated from West Moore High School. Over the years he has had many professions. He has worked as a painter, construction worker, oil field worker, he also obtained his CNA license, and was a stay-at-home dad when his children were young. Sam loved his children. He was a devoted dad taking them to school and all their sports. He was a hands-on dad by taking them to practice and attending all their sporting events. He even helped not just from the sidelines but coached Wyatt in baseball, football, and wrestling. During the wrestling season, he would drive every weekend all over Oklahoma so Wyatt could wrestle. Sam loved the outdoors, and he was always taking his kids fishing. He learned his love of fishing from his dad and had many memories from his childhood fishing with his dad. He taught his children at a young age how to fish doing everything on their own hooks and all. Wyatt and Abby have skills for fishing like their father that they will never forget.

He loved animals and was always bringing home dogs. He loved sports. He met the mother of his children at an OU game. He loved dressing up for Halloween and taking his kid trick or treating. His actual first date with their mother was a Halloween party and he was always taking his kids to do fireworks on the 4th of July.

Sam had many obstacles in his life, but one thing never changed and that was his love for the lord. He has read the bible front and back many times and could quote any passage.

Sam is up in heaven with his family watching over us.
