Sherry Babbette (Cattuzzo) Ervin, longtime Lamar and Hughes County, Oklahoma resident, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Holdenville General Hospital in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 60.
Sherry was born July 9, 1963 in Santa Ana, California to Albert and Patricia Jo (Moxley) Cattuzzo. Sherry loved music and one of her favorite bands was Journey. In high school, she dated the frontman of Journey Steve Perry. She swore until the day she died that “Oh Sherrie” was written about her.
Later in life Sherry moved to Oklahoma and married William “Bill” Ervin and they resided on their property in Lamar, Oklahoma. Bill would later precede Sherry in death.
Sherry loved living in Oklahoma on her property. She had a free-spirited love for the outdoors that could not be tamed. Whether it was hunting or fishing with the grandkids, or riding ATVs around her miles of trails, she found peace in nature.
Sherry later met Donnie Collier and they connected instantly. Sherry was welcomed into Donnie’s extended family and always looked forward to going to family get-togethers with Donnie. Everyone loved being around Sherry. Throughout her life she touched many lives and even “adopted” some kids that needed a mom at that time in their life. She was always up for an adventure, especially if it involved anything with water, including boating and swimming.
Sherry loved writing and was working on her first book. She was also an award-winning photographer. Sherry enjoyed watching hummingbirds and had a strong love for her animals, often spending hours with them outside. She had a heart of gold and will be missed dearly.
Surviving Sherry are her longtime companion, Donnie Collier of the home; two daughters, Brandi White and Amanda McErvin; her grandchildren, Desmond White, Keira White and her newborn great-granddaughter, Lilith White, all of California and a host of other family and friends.
Sherry was also preceded in death by her parents and her son, Desmond Edward Lovenguth.
After her services, Sherry’s cremated remains, along with a handful of soil from her property, will be scattered and laid to rest alongside her beloved son’s grave in California.
Services are under the direction of OK Cremation & Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
