Thomas “Tommy” James McAlister, age 70, passed away on February 8, 2017. Tom was born August 8, 1946 in Walters, OK to LeRoy and Theresa (McCarthy) McAlister. He graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City in 1964 and continued his education at the University of Central Oklahoma completing a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Tom served his country from 1968 to 1970 with the Marines, completing basic training at Camp Pendleton and then stationed in Vietnam. After returning home, he began a 40 year career as a computer programmer working for the US Government at Tinker AFB and FAA. His passion was dirt track racing. He owned a race car for over 40 years and traveled to many states to enjoy the races. Tom was also a diehard OU fan and enjoyed football, basketball, baseball, and softball. Tom is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Judy Coffey; and one brother, Kenny McAlister. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna ; one sister, Martha Wyrostek of Rutland, Vermont; one daughter, Tami (Charley) Bell of Eufaula; two sons, Scott Mallow of Guthrie, and Kerry (Jennifer) McAlister of Mustang; 3 grandsons, John Bell, Daniel (Kathy) Bell, and Kolton McAlister; and one great grandson, Asher Bell. Visitation will be held at OK Cremation and Funeral Home Chapel located at 2415 N. Walnut in Oklahoma City from 6-8pm on Wednesday, February 15th. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 16th at 1pm at the Mausoleum at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice.
