Vernon “Guy” Nix was born on March 28th, 1952, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and lost his battle to cancer on December 19th, 2025, at the age of 73, in Oklahoma City.
Guy lived a life defined by his kindness and servitude to others. He spent many years working in commercial and industrial maintenance and repair. The highlight of his career was serving as maintenance director of Saint Ann Retirement Center, where his skills and mindset set the foundation for the facility, and left a lasting impact on the residents and staff. After many years of being self-employed, Guy retired from the maintenance field in 2021 when he was diagnosed with multiple Myeloma.
On April 21st, 1980, Guy married the love of his life, Vickie Nix, and together they built a loving family. While he was a proud father, his greatest joy was being a Papa. He would show his affection through the little things: cooking waffles after a night of sleepovers, showing up at Christmas with pickled eggs just because they’re your favorite, building many keepsakes by hand, somehow always having the right battery for any toy or flashlight, and fiercely standing up for those he loved.
Guy is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Vickie Nix, and his four children: Bonnie Norwood and husband Kris; Shane Wise and wife Kendra; Clayton Wise and wife Rachel; Ryan Nix and partner Eve. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Cody Norwood and wife Madison, Shyann Welke and husband Jonathan, Lexi Wise, Dex Wise, Joey Wise, Cameron Wise, Ivy Nix, and Anthony Nix; and his great-grandchildren Jebidiah, Stetson and Colson Welke. He is also survived by his beloved sister-in-law Sheri Kingsbury who helped tremendously through his battle of cancer, and his brothers Michael and Patrick Nix.
Guy also held a special place in his heart for his niece Kristie Lee, and his nephew Christopher Harris, and many other nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews, who were deeply meaningful parts of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Guyetta Cluck, and Vernon Carl Nix, and his sister Ginger Morgan.
He will be remembered for his love of sports, cars, telling jokes, and being able to fix anything broken. He is deeply missed and will leave behind a lifetime of memories for all that had the privilege to know him.
A memorial service for Guy will be on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, at 11:00am, and held at OK Cremation & Funeral Home, 2415 North Walnut Ave. Oklahoma City, OK. 73105.
