Staff Sergeant William Jack Hiser age 93, and long-time resident of Konawa, OK passed away Monday April 16th at his home.
A memorial is scheduled for Friday, April 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Konawa Veterans Memorial Park.
Jack was born February 22, 1925 in Okemah, Ok to Reuben H. Hiser and Syble Hisaw-Hiser. Jack enlisted in the U.S. Airforce in 1943. He served as a ball turret gunner in the 8th Airforce, 487th Bomb Group. He flew twenty-one missions with the Allied Forces before being honorably discharged with three Bronze stars in 1945.
After being discharged from the U.S. Airforce, Jack was working on a pipeline in Alabama when he met Virginia Freeman. They were married in 1949 and had two children, Susan and Judy. The family settled in Konawa where Jack worked for McClure fuel service until he retired.
Jack loved family and friends. Hobbies include trap shooting and wood-working. He is survived by one daughter Susan Harris of Konawa, three grandsons Daniel Hays of Kentucky, Donavon Grotts of Kansas, and “Lil’ El” of Ada, Oklahoma, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by wife Virginia Hiser, daughter Judy Grotts, and son William Hiser Jr.
