Obituary

Anna Marguerite Henry Kimball was born in Boulder, Colorado on December 12, 1919 to Hattie and Leslie Henry.  She passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the age of 100. She grew up in Yuma, Colorado and the Portland, Oregon area.  She returned to Yuma, Colorado and graduated from high school in 1938.  She attended college in Greeley, Colorado and graduated with a teaching certificate.  She married Orin Allen Kimball on November 28, 1939.  They made their home in Yuma where she taught in a one room schoolhouse.

Orin was sent overseas during WWII and Marguerite moved to Denver and went to work for the Remington Gun Company in their office.  She was able to save enough money to pursue her life long dream of moving to NYC.  While in NYC, she worked in the office at a shipyard and then was hired to dance in the chorus line of “The Lady said Yes” on Broadway.

After WWII, Marguerite and Orin lived in Ft. Collins, Colorado where they had two children, Kathy and Orin.  They moved to MWC in 1951 and their last child, Teri, was born at Tinker Air Force base.  Marguerite was a homemaker, but stayed active by being involved in Toastmasters, the Hospital Auxiliary and was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader.  She was happiest when she could help others in her community. She then became involved in the Oklahoma Republican Women’s Club, where she served as president and traveled to Washington, D.C. several times.

After the death of her husband, Orin, in 1973 she went to work for the Corps of Engineers until her retirement in 1985.  She had a love for the arts and enjoyed quilting, oil painting, doll making and creating stained glass art.

She is survived by her three children, Kathryn Hubbel of Edmond, Oklahoma, Orin Kimball and wife Barbara of Harrah, Oklahoma and Terresa Ward of Midwest City, Oklahoma.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and  five great-great grandchildren.
