Berry Michael Field

January 1, 1948 — September 11, 2021

Oklahoma City

Berry Michael Field passed away on September 11, 2021, at age 73. In his passing, he joins his parents, Mary Bob and Otto Field, his siblings Marilyn Foley and Bryan Field as well as his eldest son, Brantley Field. He is survived by his wife Carolyn Louise Field, whom he loved and cared for deeply. His children- Becca Jessop, Amber & Anthony Dixon, Denton & Francyne Field, Alan Field and his grandchildren- Ty Brown-Field and Jaden Dixon. He is also remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. And finally, his canine companion- Dingo- the homeless tick infested mutt that became the Hobbs to his Calvin, the Chewie to his Han.

He served his country in the Air Force, then later he joined the Oklahoma Air National Guard. His service took him from Oklahoma to Alaska, Argentina, Antarctica, and that’s just the A’s. He’d been to over 60 countries, been involved in almost every international conflict since Vietnam, and he had many adventures and stories to tell. He made numerous friends during his service- he lost friends too. He served on the Honor Guard for many of his fallen comrades-in-arms, a somber duty he was privileged to perform.

Berry wore many titles throughout his life: Airman, Sargent, Chief, Veteran, Coach, Sensei, Uncle, Pappy, and Dad. He was never too prideful to learn something new. He was a student of Kyokushin Karate, a Civil War re-enactor, a boxer, a deaf dog trainer, an artist, a gardener, a mechanic, a fabricator, a storyteller, a mentor, a father, a husband, and a friend. More than anything, Berry was a supporter, a guy you’d want in your corner, always first to volunteer, last to leave. He was the life of every party, the right-hand man for every task, and a constant rock during tumultuous times. He was kind, hilarious, compassionate, headstrong, sympathetic, a good listener, and an endless source of encouragement. His presence on this earth improved the lives of all who knew him or knew of him. The man- Berry Michael Field is no longer with us, but his legend, his teaching, his stories, and his love will never die.

After the service, the family invites you for a time of extended celebration, story-telling, and refreshments.
