Bobby and Neva Prescott

Bobby Gene Prescott was born on September 27, 1932 outside Madisonville, Texas in the home of Marion and Mae Prescott, the third of three boys. He died October 28, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Bobby was a true country boy, growing up hunting, fishing, playing, and working on the family farm. Being a good student and an excellent athlete, Bobby excelled in all sports, especially basketball and baseball. After playing college basketball at Lon Morris, he was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals, but was drafted by the U.S. Army before his baseball career could start. As a corporal in the army, he was a draftsman and played on the army baseball team and ran track. Prior to entering the Army, he married his high school sweetheart, Neva Catherine Clark of Madisonville, Texas on October 25, 1952. They were blessed with five children, Debbie, Chip, Shelly, Patti, and Mike. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he began a career as an educator and coach in Iola, Alvarado, and Centerville. After coaching, he had a career with Motorola Communications and as a high school and college football, basketball, and baseball official, eventually being inducted into the Southwest Officials Hall of Fame.

Neva Catherine Clark was born in Madisonville, Texas on March 13, 1934 to Hugh and Jo Clark. She was the big sister to Andy Clark. She died on October 27, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Neva enjoyed school and was an excellent student. Her fierce loyalty led her to love and support her school sports teams, family, and hometown. From a young age until her passing, Neva was devoted to her family. Ever the optimist, she sought hard to find the good in people when no one else could. After marrying Bobby, her life focus was to be the best wife and mother she could be. Blending pride and humility, she was the teacher of her children in education, manners, respect, discipline, and Christian values. After the children were gone, she ran her own ceramics business for several years and then worked as an insurance underwriter for Anco Insurance for over 20 years. Her life focus was to God, Bobby, and her children and grandchildren.

Bobby and Neva were born in strong Christian homes and that was the desire for their family as well. For them family was a broad term that included friends of their children, kids that they taught and coached in school, and lifelong friends. Church and God were the focus of the home, Bobby was a Baptist Deacon, Neva was a church secretary, and Sunday morning breakfast included a Bible lesson before church. They celebrated 69 years of marriage on October 25, 2021. Holding hands, they left this world two days later only fifteen hours apart to be with their Lord.

They were preceded in death by their parents, Marion and Mae Prescott, Hugh and Jo Clark, brothers Melvin and Merle Prescott and Andy Clark, and daughters Shelly and Patti.

They are survived by daughter Debbie Rowland of Oklahoma City, son Chip and wife Cindy of Austin, Texas, son Mike and wife Brenda of Edmond, Oklahoma, son Brad and wife Arlene of Arequipa, Peru, grandchildren Greg Wilson and wife Kacy of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Kari Wilson of Oklahoma City, Staci Ellis and husband Kendall of Oklahoma City, Jodi Ford and husband Casey of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Doug Niels of Austin, Texas, Lia Kickham and husband Garrison of Austin, Texas, Phillip and JJ Niels of Austin, Texas, Casey and Becca Prescott of College Station, Texas, Cory Ahre of Midlothian, Texas, Bobby Jo Ahre of Houston, Texas, Reagan Allen and husband Kyle of Edmond, Oklahoma, Mackenzie Prescott of Edmond, Oklahoma, and 23 great and great-great grandchildren.
