Carol Lynn (Terrel) Puckett

April 13, 1954 — October 9, 2019

A service celebrating the life of Carol Puckett will be held at Brookwood Baptist Church 8921 S Walker, OKC on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 2:00 pm.
Carol was born on April 13, 1954 to Donna L and John E Terrel. She went to work at the University of Oklahoma Hospital in August of 1975 as a Typist Clerk. She then transferred to the Gross Production division of the Oklahoma Tax Commission in March of 1976 where she remained until her illness forced her to retire from her position as Administrator. She was a Certified Public Manager and received the State’s Good Works Award during her time with the Commission. She loved working there because her dad had once owned a gas station in Chandler and by working  with oil and gas companies she felt a connection to him. Her office contained a picture of the gas station he had owned along with other oil and gas paraphernalia.
Her great grandparents along with her great-great grandmother were part of the land run of 1891 and settled around the area of what is now Carney. A few years after that land run her beloved Granny was born. She was proud of her state and thankful for the opportunity to be a public servant to the citizens of this great state. Her office contained pictures of our State Capitol which reminded her of her beloved Granny and also the love she felt for Oklahoma.
She was also extremely proud of her son and daughter and two granddaughters and her office contained numerous pictures of all of them.
She had a heart for God's church and she also loved sharing God's love with people. She was involved in both Rancho Village Baptist and then Brookwood Baptist churches. She loved teaching youth in Bible Study and missions classes. She loved not only teaching them but also bringing  snacks and little trinkets to those in her classes. She spent quite a bit of her summers teaching at VBS, Falls Creek and taking youth on mission trips to help repair homes of those who couldn't afford the needed repairs. The farthest of those trips was to Alaska and the shortest was to Hugo, Oklahoma. She also loved filling stockings that the Salvation Army would give out to needy kids at Christmas time.
Carol was preceded in death by her beloved Granny, Laura Terrel, her mother Donna Gilliam, her father John E Terrel and her step-father Harold Gilliam.
Carol is survived by her husband, Bill Puckett, her brother Jim Shealer and his wife Joyce, sister Susan Harmon, daughter Laura Moore and her husband Chris and her two granddaughters Abbie and Allie along with her son Trey Puckett and his wife Stephanie along with numerous others who were touched by her life.
