Clyde Leroy Smith of Oklahoma City, OK went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday April 20, 2023, at 9:30am, with his wife Darlene by his side. Clyde was born on October 13, 1938, to Margie and Clifford Gordon in Watsonville, CA. Following the death of his mother, Clyde along with his siblings were adopted by Dr. Haskell (Margie’s brother) and his wife Joan Smith. He grew up in Stillwater, OK and attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU), being one of OSU’s biggest fans - GO POKES!!! Clyde joined the United States Navy, giving his time to our country.

On September 3, 1966, Clyde married the love of his life Darlene. In that time, he became a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of The India Shrine. Another one of Clyde’s most memorable moment’s is when he became a grandfather on the first grandparent’s day, blessing him with a cherished title forever known as “Papa”.

Clyde would always make sure that people knew to enjoy life and to appreciate each day we have together. His favorite song was “I Hope You Dance”. He wanted to make sure that everyone knew how much we all meant to him and the joy each of us brought into his life. One of his favorite past times was to be at the lake and on the water with family and friends.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Darlene Smith, Grandkids: Jeromey and wife Julie James, Stephanie James, Marcy Williams, and Ernie Gomez, Great Grandkids: A.C., Emily, Tara, Fayth, Zane, Malikai, Cheyenne, and Loretta, Great Great Grandkid: Isabell, Brother: Willis Smith, Sister Virginia and her husband Bill Kline, Brother-in-Laws: Dewayne and wife Diane Matthews, Jay and wife Sandy Matthews, Sister-in-Law: Ruthie Porter. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Previously departed loved ones include his parents Dr. Haskell and Joan Smith, Margie and Clifford Gordon, his daughter Deborah Smith, great grandson, Jessie James, brothers John Spear, Clifford Smith, Derrell Smith, father and mother in-law Eugene & Ethel Matthews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The India Shrine travel fund in Clyde’s name.
