Eric Shelton Ballew

Eric Shelton Ballew passed away on January 26, 2021. He was born December 5, 1976 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Robert and Cindy Ballew. He grew up in Cookson then spent most of his adult life in the Oklahoma City area until recently moving to Tuttle, Oklahoma with his wife (Shelly) and daughters (Lyla & Mikayla).

Eric was always there to help all his friends, family and even strangers when they needed anything. He loved to be outdoors and spent time teaching his girls all the little tricks about hunting and fishing. He worked as a commercial auditor for most of his life but loved his job for the friends and family he gained. He was happiest when he was busy working with his hands and caring for others. His greatest love are his twin daughters that he called “bear” and “bug”. He valued the time spent with his parents at the OU football games and especially enjoyed time with his cousins and their families. Eric always tried to make others laugh by telling jokes or silly stories. He especially loved his downtime with his wife when they watched the OKC Thunder, worked together on projects, took trips, and had family movie nights. He will be greatly missed and is loved bigger than the whole sky.

Eric was preceded in death by his unborn child, and infant baby brother, maternal grandparents James (Jim) Francis Brooks and Norma Jeane (Harvey) Brooks, paternal grandparents Marion Shelton (Doc) and Lila Marie Cookson Ballew, Uncle Harvey James Brooks, Uncle Bradford Lynn Brooks, his favorite Aunt Marcheta Jeane Brooks and a loved brother-in-law Christopher Glover.

Eric is survived by his wife, Shelly Renee Ballew and daughters Lyla Rose Ballew and Mikayla Ray Ballew; Parents Robert and Cindy Ballew of Cookson; Mother-in-law Vicky Glover of OKC, Brother James Ballew of St Louis; Brothers-in-laws John Conner of OKC, Stephen Conner of OKC, David Conner of Langley, and Daniel Post of OKC; Nephews Branden Hawkins and Jacob Conner and Niece Lilly Jo Conner; as well as many special cousins, uncles, and friends.

Following the services, there will be a meal served at the Wellman Residence, 798 County Street 2981, Tuttle, OK 73089.
