Liza Jane McGirt

September 23, 1960 — July 29, 2019

In the early hours of Monday July 29th, 2019, Liza Jane McGirt, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away at the age of 58 after her brave battle with cancer.

Liza Jane McGirt was born on September 23, 1960 in Oklahoma City, OK to William McGirt and Florence Long McGirt of Holdenville, OK.

Liza lived in Oklahoma City and attended Classen High School. After having her first daughter she briefly moved to her mother’s family home in Holdenville, and later returned to Oklahoma City. She worked for Stewardship Resources for 10 + plus years before retiring and worked several years at Wal-Mart. She loved visiting her home church Tukvpvtce Methodist Church in Holdenville as much as possible. She would also attend Mary Lee Clark UMC in Del City, OK.

Liza was a very talented women who loved to share her talents with others. She was an excellent artist, amazing seamstress and made costumes and outfits for anyone who asked. Liza was also a baker and created delicious cakes, pies and many other sweets. She enjoyed reading Danielle Steel novels and watching Hallmark movies. Some of her favorite foods were Salt Meat, Tomato & Basil Soup and she loved Pumpkin Pie. Easter and Thanksgiving were her 2 favorite holidays which brought family and friends together.

Family always came first in Liza’s life, she spent much of her time caring for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. And she loved to spoil them all as much as possible.

Liza is survived by her sister Virginia McGirt, Brothers Rosco Davis, and Kenneth McGirt, 2 daughters Christina Cunnish and Sherry Ramirez, 6 grandchildren, Olathia, Cody, Emanuel, Annalise and Irene Cunnish and Elanna Johns, 4 great grandchildren, Ivan, Ianna, and Israel Zubia and Aleyda Pizzaro.

She was preceded in death by her Grandparents Chiley (Chelly) & Eliza McGirt, Milton & Ella Long,  Father William McGirt, Mother Florence Long McGirt, Grandson Truman Joe Cunnish, Brothers Bobby McGirt and Leland J. Long Sr.

Liza will be forever remembered for her kindness, thankfulness, loving and caring nature.  And a smile that was shared with any and all she met.

Funeral services for Liza will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Tekopuchee Methodist Church in Holdenville. Burial will follow at Yahola-Fixico Family Cemetery.

The body will be take to the church on Friday, Aug 2 at 4:00 PM for a wake service to be held that evening.

Services are under the direction of OK Cremation and Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
