Nhelson Buitron

August 25, 1953 — December 9, 2020

Nhelson Buitron, age 67, of Quito, Ecuador, began his spiritual journey on December 9th, 2020 surrounded by his wife and children.

Nhelson is survived by his mother, Alicia and wife, Regina.  He is also survived by his children Ryann and Graziella, his sisters Sonia and Sandi, and brother Michael.

He is preceded in death by his father, Luis Buitron.

Nhelson was born in Ecuador and later moved to New York with his family.  He attended Paul D. Schrieber High School in Port Washington and furthered his education at the New York Institute of Technology where he graduated and began his career as a network engineer.   He fell in a deep love with his wife Regina, wed in 1994 and remained happily married to her the past 26 years.

Nhelson spent the majority of his life living in East Stroudsburg, PA in the home that he was so proud of building with his wife. He loved to keep himself busy by doing handy-work around the house, working outside, creating new things, listening to music and even when he couldn’t do the handy-work around the house anymore- he loved to teach his children how to do everything that he knew how to do.  Most importantly, he loved to have company to share the home with.  I know for a fact that some his most fond memories are of the countless moments shared in that home with a multitude of friends and family.

He also loved to play soccer, beach volleyball, participate in triathlons, watch movies, drink his favorites: Avocado shakes and Heinekens (not together of course) and eat his toasted maiz.

He was notorious for being persistent, grouchy as his mom would call him, funny, creative, optimistic, intelligent and also the most selfless person to bless this family.  He never failed to put anybody before himself.  The love that he felt for his family was truly unmatched.

Nhelson always taught us to look at the brighter side of things, that mistakes aren’t mistakes if you take them and learn from them, and to always check the oil and coolant in your car before you go on a long drive.  He was always proud of everything that we did.  We could always count on his full love and support.

You may not be here with us anymore in your physical body but you continue to live on through me and Ryann, and in every single one of our hearts.

Dad, you always told us that when you die, to not be sad and to throw a party instead.  Obviously it’s pretty hard to not be sad, but what I ask is that we all carry a a new zest for life, for him because it’s what he would have wanted.

This isn’t a goodbye, just a see you later.  We love you more than anything.  Thank you for blessing us and this Earth with your presence for the past 67 years, we will never forget you and all of the memories you graced our lives with. You will be missed every single day, by every one of us.  We love you, dad.
